The Jennie Elliott Casino will be held on Wednesday and Thursday October 24/25th at the Elbow River Casino. Please consider signing up to help out.
We require approximately 50 volunteers in various capacities to be able to staff three shifts on both days. (We also need alternates in case a volunteer is unable to attend at the last minute.)
We do this for our kids! Your volunteer commitment at the Casino allows us to raise $50,000 or more to support and enrich learning at Jennie Elliott.

hank-you to all of those who attended the Parent Education night. It was an interesting evening of learning how to speak to our children about sexual health. The speaker was very engaging. Thank-you Scharie for organizing the great event.
Also, thank-you for your support of our DeVry flower & plant fundraiser. It was a real success. We raised ~$2,500 in money for our school! Our tireless fundraiser coordinator, Joanne, pulled off an wonderful fundraiser. Thank-you Joanne.

Jennie Elliott School Council invites you to their Parent Education evening hosted by the Calgary Sexual Health Centre. This is on April 26th, 2018 between 7:00-9:00pm in the school gym. Beverages and snacks will be served.
The workshop goal is to increase parent's confidence and comfort in talking with their children, 6-12 years old, about sexuality. Please see the attached poster for further details and on how to register.

The term for our two current co-chairs ends this June 2018. We are looking to recruit two parents to fill the Co-Chair roles for the 2018-19 and 2019-20 school years.
School Council Co-Chair(s) is a dynamic and fulfilling volunteer role that allows parents to have significant involvement in the community spirit, outreach and fundraising aspects of school life at Jennie Elliott. Did you know that School Council is responsible for setting and fundraising a $75 000-$90 000 budget per year and all the money raised goes toward programming and equipment at the school - from new computers and SMART boards to artist residencies, from art supplies and musical instruments to student agendas and gym equipment? All the extras that many schools go without are provided to the school because of the efforts of dozens of volunteers on School Council! With children at the school, this is a perfect opportunity for you to get involved and make a difference for years to come in the quality of your child’s school experience!
The School Council Co-Chair(s) role itself serves primarily as liaison between Jennie Elliott administration and school parents/families. We also act as parent representatives within the Calgary and Alberta School Councils Associations.
Key School Council Co-Chair responsibilities include:
-Liaising with JE principal and assistant principal on an ongoing (weekly to semi-weekly) to address school and parent community needs and concerns.
-Collaborating with school community parents and JE admin to identify school budget priorities, setting a budget each Fall, planning and implementing fundraising initiatives to meet budget targets and items throughout the school year.
-Setting agendas based on school and parent feedback for monthly school council meetings and chairing the meetings (typically held on the 3rd Monday of the month in the school library).
-Liaising with all School Council Parent Coordinators (Fun Lunch, Family Dance, Volunteer, Parent Education, Casino, Fundraising, Staff Appreciation, September and June Picnics) to support them in executing their events/initiatives. Filling Parent Coordinator positions if they become vacant.
-Ensuring timely and ongoing communication out to the school parent community related to upcoming school events, school council agendas/meetings/meeting minutes and any other school council related initiatives, and responding to feedback, questions and concerns from the parent community as they arise. Maintaining the Jennie Elliott School Council website.
-Addressing any special issues that may come up such as - reviewing bylaws, hiring a new school photographer, acting as a liaison with the community association as needed, among many other items.

My name is Tina, and I'm organizing the Family Dance. Last year we all had a fabulous time, so I hope you are available and excited to attend and lend a hand....as the saying goes, many hands make light work!

The Family Dance is set for Thursday February 22, 2018 - 6:00PM-8:00PM. We're going with a Formal Theme.
Here are the volunteer positions I need for the event:
Set Up - 4 volunteers to meet me at the school at 2:45 to do table set up and decorations (1.5 hour max)
Take down/clean up - 4-6 volunteers to stay at the end of the dance to put tables back, gather decorations, and general clean up (30 minutes max)
Registration Table - 4 volunteers to check families in at 5:45-7:00 (45mins-1.25 hours)
Concession Tables - 2 volunteers per hour to lead the 2 concession tables (assisting the grade 6 students who will also be working the tables) (1 hour - 6-7:00 or 7-8:00)
Candy Guess & 50/50 table - 1 volunteer per hour to lead the sales of Guess tickets and 50/50 tickets (45min-1 hour 6-6:45 or 6:45-7:45)
Hall Monitors - 4 volunteers working 30 minute shifts (1 volunteer per shift) to ensure no one is wandering the halls beyond the washroom areas along the Kindergarten/Grade 2 halls.
