Thank you to everyone who came out to the September Social and Picnic! It was great to see kids and parents mingling and having fun. The weather held thankfully and the donuts were a hit!

Fundraising within our school community pays for many of the extra opportunities, experiences and events that our children have at Jennie Elliott - everything from iPads, computers and library books to Phys. Ed equipment, supplies in the classrooms and special in-school residencies. School council is responsible for this fundraising and we want to take a few moments to share this year's plan with you. Our fundraising is a combination of ongoing initiatives - Fun Lunches (www.healthyhunger.ca) and Mabel's Labels (you can order labels under the school's name and Jennie Elliott gets a percentage of the order, go to http://mabelslabels.com/support-a-fundraiser and select Jennie Elliott School), a casino night (this is a large revenue builder for the school typically yielding approximately $68, 000. Each school is allowed to participate in a casino once every 18 months and our next scheduled casino is November 24th and 25th, 2016), two school spirit events (Gingerbread Night on December 1st and the Family Dance in February 2017), and three sales campaigns over the course of the year (this school year we will be selling Purdy's Chocolates in November, Perogies and Sausage in March and Cookbooks and Coffee/Tea in May). The school community's support and participation in fundraising from volunteering at events to purchasing products is much appreciated and directly pg. 9 impacts and improves the experience and opportunities your children have in their day to day lives at school.
