Dream it. Believe it. Achieve it!
Happy December Jennie Elliott Families!
Thank you very much to all the parents, guardians, grandparents and caregivers who have worked so hard this Fall at the school volunteering their time and lending their support every chance and way they can. Your effort and contributions are what make our school great and makes a huge difference in our childrens' day to day lives and experiences at school.
Thank you to our Casino Coordinator Diana Balfour for her months of organizing, planning and coordinating. Our school's assigned days at the Elbow River Casino were November 24th and 25th and it went very well. Thank you Diana for all your awesome and very hard work, and thank you to the 50+ volunteer parents who were on deck at the casino over those two days. We should hear from the AGLC (Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission) in the spring about our profit, but it is typically around a $68,000 profit for our school that goes directly towards technology, books and physical education equipment/programming.
Thank you to our Fundraising Coordinator Joanne Cook and her team for running a phenomenal Fall fundraising campaign (Purdy's Chocolates). The school sold $50,187 worth of chocolates! From these sales, the school gets $15,000 in profit!! Thank you to every family and staff that purchased chocolates, your support is incredible! This profit will help the school to continue to have artists in residencies, art and music supplies and other special in-school programming. Pick-up for the Purdy's orders is on Thursday, December 8th from 2:00-4:00 inside the main entrance of Lakeview United Church (the church across the street from the school).
Family Gingerbread Night is coming up this Thursday, December 1st. There will be sittings from 5:30-7:00 and 7:00-8:30 in the school gym.
The school's annual Gift Card drive runs from December 1st-15th. This initiative collects gift cards for families in need within our school community with a specific focus on gift cards that allow families to purchase food, clothing, toys and household items. Cards from stores such as Walmart, Superstore, Co-op, IGA, Safeway, and Toys R Us are recommended as they allow families to purchase the broadest range of helpful items. Gift card donations will be accepted in the school office and can be handed in to office secretary, Terry-Lee McKay until December 15th. The school administration and office team will confidentially identify recipient families and distribute the gift cards to them on December 16th.
Please note there is no School Council meeting in December. The next School Council meeting is on Monday, January 16th at 7:00 in the school library. All are welcome!
Wishing everyone a joyful Holiday season full of peace and happy times with your loved ones!
Many thanks from your Jennie Elliott School Council Team
